When you're driving around Gresham, OR at night, it can be hard to see if bright lights are shining in your eyes. Fortunately, the industry has come up with a way to address this problem. Many of the vehicles at Gresham Subaru have auto-dimming rearview mirrors that use advanced technology to help you drive at night.

These mirrors look exactly like regular mirrors during the day. When the sun goes down, though, things can start to happen. They come with sensors that can detect the presence of bright light. When this happens, those sensors send out electrical signals.

The signals are received by the special gel, called electrochromic gel, that's been embedded in the mirrors. An electrical signal results in the gel undergoing a reaction in which it darkens. This results in the mirror appearing dimmer. A dimmer mirror can restrict the amount of light that reflects back into your eyes.
